The highlights of a year renovating my stone house on a hill in Catalunya. A timelapse of sorts that includes Walls, Floors, Foundations, Discoveries, Vaults, Beams, Bricks, Roof and more.
It started with work on the outside walls, removing old lime mortar and cement render. All cleaned up with a power wash. 1000s of floor tiles were then lifted for re-using and major work followed both on the floor foundations and the vault ceilings. Outside the house I discovered and dug out an ancient patio and other buried structures. And there were also lots of changes to the garden, the old dry well, shed and land around the house. One side of the house was dramatically transformed over a series of work phases that opened up and improved lots of space. Rotten beams were removed, new floors relaid and whole walls were taken out. A number of changes to interior and exterior openings also totally changed the accessibility of the house. And on top of all of this half of the arabic / barrel tile roof was completely renovated. It was a busy year with lots of hard work, but the house is slowly becoming as wonderful as the hills and views around it.

about my channel and its videos

My channel is about the renovation and restoration of an old stone house on a hill in Catalunya (North East of Spain). The house is near the Costa Brava and has magnificent views of the forest around it and the Mediterranean Sea.

The house has many beautiful old features, including its stone walls, vaulted ceilings, ancient terracotta tiles and many quirky parts added over the centuries. At the moment, I am working on the house on my own as I try to turn it into a dream home in harmony with the nature and culture that surrounds it.

The house is not in France or Italy and is not a Chateau or Cabin, but I watch and am inspired by channels that are. Especially Martijn Doolaard and Dan Preston's Escape to Rural France. I love Martijn's style, philosophy and cinematography and Dan's energy, humour and ambition. I'm trying to include some of these attributes in my videos.
